The Muthu's Flavors

Opened on 25 January 2010 at the latest hip shopping destination 313@Somerset, The Muthu's Flavors is a unique and casual chic concept proudly presented by industry veteran Muthu's Curry. This new destination promises guests the best of both worlds – authentic flavours presented in a contemporary style with an emphasis on individual Indian casual dining. The first outlet opened on 23 November 2009 in the latest F&B and lifestyle cluster on Dempsey Road and showcases the same menu.

Diners who are familiar with the communal dining concept at Muthu's Curry can now look forward to a different style of presentation whereby individual dining is the focus. Fans of Indian fare will enjoy a complete meal served on a plate that encompasses a main dish, healthy seasonal salad with homemade house dressing, accompanying rice or naan and the house special pappadum 'twisties'. The result is a meal that is light yet fulfilling. In addition, the chefs have created a selection of main dishes unique to The Muthu's Flavors.

Our Dishes

Featuring favourites from the North and South of India, as well as creations unique to The Muthu's Flavors, the menu is a treasure trove of dishes that showcases the six flavours well-loved in Indian cuisine – salty, sour, spicy, creamy, bitter and sweet. Individual sets take focus under the
'Muthu's Signature' section while the rest of the menu carries a selection of a la carte dishes from the 'Muthu's Favourites'.

Tandoori Chicken

Lamb Rack Ananas

Morumoru Vendakai

Muthu's Signature

From the 'Muthu's Signature' section, guests are treated to a menu of authentic Indian favourites that are served in a 'pre-plated' set. For example, the signature Tandoori chicken (S$16.90) comes as a moist half–chicken complemented by flavoured Basmati rice, a mixed tomato-cress-frisee-rocket salad with the house coriander dressing and Pappadum 'twisties' which are addictive crispy strips served with mint chutney – all on one plate. The restaurant also serves dishes unique to the outlet such as Lamb rack ananas (S$22.90) which finds three pieces of succulent meat marinated with a homemade mix of pineapple puree and spices, and juicy pineapples that have been slow-cooked in the tandoor. To complete the meal, there are accompaniments of cheese naan, Daal makhni, Pappadum 'twisties' and house salad on the plate as well.

Our Seafood Section

From the seafood section, a must-try is the Masala mussels (S$16.90) which are a plate of luscious morsels in an enticing chilli-onion-tomato-based sauce, served with a Romali roti (thin wheat bread) 'packet', Pappadum 'twisties' and house salad.

Mixed Tandoor Skewer

Beetroot Halwa

Masala Chai Flan

Meal For Two

For those who would still prefer to share their meal, there are options available. For starters, the Papaddum bruschetta (S$5.50) is a delicious snack of five toasted wafers topped with a refreshing mix of onions, tomatoes, green chillies and coriander. Also addictive is the Morumoru Vendakai (S$7.90) – okra is marinated with chilli powder and cumin, then coated with gram flour and deep fried. It is served with homemade mango chutney and tamarind sauce. From the mains, guests can indulge in dishes such as Murgh Makhani or butter chicken (S$10.90) and Chicken 65 (S$9).

Our Desserts

There are two highly recommended desserts to end the meal – the Masala chai flan (S$6.90) is a velvety custard infused with masala tea spices, while Beetroot halwa with ice cream (S$7.90) is a delicious creation of fresh beetroot cooked in milk and spices such as cardamom, served in a pastry cup, then topped with fresh beet sauce and vanilla ice cream.

Loyalty Benefits

Loyal fans of Muthu's famous Fish head curry (S$25) – an institution in its own right – will be pleased to know that it is also available at The Muthu's Flavors outlets. This dish was pioneered by the founder of Muthu's Curry, Mr Ayyakkannu, in 1969 and has since captured the palates of local and overseas guests.
